The Game Boy Color is a handheld created and manufactured by Nintendo. It was released in 1998 as the successor to the Game Boy. The main difference with the Game Boy Color is that has a full color display, albeit still using 8-bit graphics. Its successor is the Game Boy Advance, which is backward compatible with both Game Boy and Game Boy Color cartridges.

Games

Five Dragon Quest games were released for the Game Boy Color. Four of them have been released on a black cartridge, allowing for backward compatibility with original Game Boy units. Dragon Warrior III is the only Dragon Quest title that was released on a clear cartridge, so it is only compatible with Game Boy Color units. If any of the Game Boy-compatible titles are played on the Super Game Boy peripheral for the Super Nintendo Entertainment System, a specialized border is displayed around the game screen.
