Mario is a multimedia franchise primarily consisting of video games starring the titular character Mario. It has spawned three spinoff franchises, Yoshi, Wario, and Donkey Kong. The first game within the overall franchise is the arcade game Donkey Kong, which released in 1981.
Both Mario and Dragon Quest have crossed over a few times. Two titles within the Itadaki Street series are a crossover between the Mario and Dragon Quest franchises. The first one is Itadaki Street DS, a Japan-only Nintendo DS title released in 2007, and the second one is Fortune Street, released for the Wii in 2011. Some Dragon Quest content has been included in the crossover fighting game Super Smash Bros. Ultimate alongside Mario and several other Nintendo and third-party franchises.
