Piantas are a humanoid species from the Mario franchise. They typically live at a beach or on an island. Piantas are featured in a variety of colors, have a small palm tree that stems from the top of their head, and wear a grass skirt. Piantas make a cameo appearance in two Dragon Quest-related crossovers: Mario Sports Mix, as spectators in various sports stadiums, and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, in the form of a Novice-class support spirit.
In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, if a fighter is equipped with a Pianta spirit, they begin the battle with a Banana Gun. The spirit battle takes place on the Delfino Plaza stage and features multiple variously-colored Kirbys meant to simulate Piantas. The spirit can be obtained by winning the battle on the Spirit Board or by clearing the challenge of purchasing an item during a Sunday sale in the Vault Shop.
